A monumental 18th century carved triform pedestal. Possibly a "Porto-Busto" (to support a sculpture) or a torchere.
Northern Italian. Possibly Piedmontese. Circa 1740.
Of transitional Baroque/Rococo form. Each side is carved with musical trophies. Raised on gilt lion's paw feet.
Painted to simulate exotic marbles and parcel gilt.
