The original 2nd century Roman example was excavated in 1744 at Hadrian’s Villa and is preserved in the Capitoline Museum. It was much admired for it’s flowing drapery.
The quality of this fine cast is evident from the deep folds and creases of the drapery as well as the details of the hair and of her finger and toe nails. Unsigned, likely to have been produced by a well known foundry such as the Righetti or Zofolli workshops.
