A rare 18th century carved tripod table in a tropical hardwood (similar to Rosewood). Rich colour and good patina. Possibly Batavian. Circa 1760. Delicately carved with acanthus on the knees and lions’ paw feet. The attenuated form is a regional interpretation of a Western design. Of unusual construction - the top unscrews- possibly to aid transportation.
